Tentsmuir Forest & Kinshaldy Beach.Fife.
**Directions To Get Here**
the Forest lies between Tayport and St Andrews Fife on the B945,
aprox 2 miles from St Micheals cross roads, going towards Tayport
a sign on the right takes you down a narrow road for aprox 4 miles,
to the Car Park in the trees, the Toilets are away over to the right,
the Childrens Adventure Playground is on the left,
distance of this walk is 4 Miles,7km
(many more walks available here,)
**THE WALK**
park anywhere in the trees, walk towards and over the sand dunes then onto the Beach
this is very important when you are facing the sea you must turn left to start the walk
if you walk near the waters edge the sand is more compact and easier to walk on,
**The Sea Must Be On Your Right Hand Side, Or You Will Be Going The Wrong Way,**
take great care when the tide is coming in,the sea doesn't always come in straight
sand banks can quickly form leaving you stranded
in an emergency dial 999 and ask for the coastguard
walk aprox 1.5miles, 2km,enjoying the sea air, watch the rich array of sea birds,
feeding on the waters edge.eventually you will come to a 2 strand wire fence accross
the beach ,climb through the fence its OK its only to stop highland cattle escaping,
go on about 200m look out to sea, get your binoculars out and watch the seals,
there can be a few or 2000 of them, if there are any on the beach do not approach
them they bite,if there are any young ones (pups)leave them alone they live here,
after you've seen enough of the seals, walk back to the fence accross the beach,
**This Is Very Important Go Through the Fence and immediately Turn Right**
follow the fence back into the forest and take the first or second path on
the left, either will do, and follow the path through the forest for 2 Miles back to
the car park,if you keep quiet when walking in the forest you may see deer,
squirrels,foxes,badgers,many types of birds,toads,
bats in the evening & much more,
**Disabled & Less Adgile Ramblers**
for disabled & less adgile ramblers there are
over 20 miles of level track criss crossing the forest,
to get to the seals start the walk with the childrens adventure playground
on your left go straight ahead along the wide level track until you come
to the ice house (signed) pass here take the next wide level path on the right
go through the gate follow the track to the beach, you can view
the seals from this point without going onto the sand, return to
the car park via the same route
