with the sea on your
right hand side walk the full length of the beach aprox 1 mile
on a good day take your
boots off and walk the 1 mile in the water
you will be surprised
how refreshing a 1 mile paddle is
as you reach the rocky
end of the beach you will see a steep path going up to a house (B &
B)
on the top of the cliff,
go half way up this path and sit on the bench on the corner
just sit relax stare straight
out to sea, then slowly look to your right
the view back along the
beach is amazing
continue up the path to
the top of the cliff, at the main entrance to the (B & B)
turn LEFT onto the grass
track and follow this until you reach some benches
and a small parking area
dont just sit on any bench
to get the full benefit of this walk you must sit on the bench
that is tucked just under
the edge of the cliff at the beginning of the path
that goes back down to
the sand dunes
this is where you have
your picnic
the view is stunning
you will want to sit here forever
continue down this winding
path, at the bottom turn RIGHT
you will pass the salmon
bothies on your left with their nets hanging up
this is one of the last
places in Scotland where salmon fishing is done off the beach
you are now heading back,
but on the grassy path behind the sand dunes
look up at the shear
cliff faces many sea birds nest here
watch for Buzzards soaring
you will eventually come
to an old graveyard, go in, this is well worth a visit
go into the little building
in the corner, nice and cosy, yes but not in the past
this is where relatives
stood watch over the new graves
to deter the body snatchers
continue along the path until you reach the road, the car park is just round the corner
as you drive back towards
the barn sale and the main road scan the base of the hill on the right
this is where you can
usually see Roe Deer
This is our secret place,
we hope you make it yours
