From Edinburgh
head to the Forth Road Bridge keep north on the M90 cross Friarton Bridge
leave at junction 11 onto A85, signed Perth, Braemar, Coupar Angus, Scone Palace
the road loops round under the Friarton Bridge,
From Dundee
take the A90 Dual Carraigeway from the Swallow roundabout
as you aproach the Friarton Bridge take the slip road signed Perth,
Braemar, Coupar Angus, Scone Palace
as you come into the outskirts of Perth
you will see signs for the Bracklyn Gardens on the right 2 acres of beautiful gardens
a little further on Turn Right onto Manse Road 100 mt before the Isle of Skye Hotel
Drive up the hill, go straight on at the first mini roundabout then right at the next one
into
the Quarry Car Park, which is the starting point of the walk
** THE Walk **

Start,
turn left at the car park exit and take the flight of wooden steps begin
the climb up Kinnoull Hill
at
the top of the steps, continue ahead to waymarked path signs
follow
the RED
markers posts, then down steps to enter the woodland, continue towards
edge of housing estate
and
turn left past seats and onto gravel path
follow
the gravel path as it begins to climb, where it divides fork right, and
follow the RED
markers through
mainly
deciduous woodland
fork
right again on the way marked path, and after a short distance fork left
and continue straight ahead
at
a path junction fork left continue through woodland skirting the base of
the hill
bear
right at the next fork to take a path beside a fenced field on the right,
at a sign pointing right to Barnhill
and
left to Kinnoull Hill, turn left continue to follow signs for the summit,
forking left to a clearing with a picnic table
with
views through the trees to the mountains of Stuc a'Chroin, and Ben Vorlich
in the distance
following
the first of a series of Red marker posts take the path to the right by
the picnic table
climb
steadily then fork right again uphill through the trees, at a path crossroads
go right first on level ground
then
climbing steadily again towards the summit
at
the summit there is a large stone table, the views over the perilously
sheer cliff edge ahead streches for miles
down
the Tay towards Dundee, accross the network of roads around the Friarton
Bridge
facing
the cliff edge, turn left following the sign for Nature Walk, which follows
the edge of the cliff
the
path dips down from the summit with a glimpse through the trees to the
right of Kinnoull Tower
its
on the edge of the cliff face, the tower was built in the 18th century
by the 9th Earl of Kinnoull
from
the folly take the path ahead closest to the cliff edge, with views over
Kinfauns Castle
continue
through the woodland to where the path divides and fork right down a wider
track
fork
right again, continue downhill for half mile, with open views to the right
over fields
pass
to the right of a gate, into an area with a Forestry Commission sign and
car park
turn
around to face the sign, take the track on the right marked Nature Walk
pass
a toilet block on the left, and re enter woodland, now on Corsiehill, and
climb a short slope
continue
on the well made track to where the path forks and bear left for the Quarry
car park
at
a junction in the track go straight on, after a short rise, turn right
onto a narrower path
follow
the car park signs where the path forks go right on RED
markers
continue
through the woodland to another path fork, go right pass behind some houses
on
a gravel path, at a clearing with picnic tables, and a clear views accross
Perth
a
metal sign identifies the Highland boundary fault, walk left following
a Yellow sign
with a figure 2 on it
the
path soon returns to the Quarry car park

Parts of this walk may not be suitable for all, however in this area there are 45km of paths
including an all abilities loop providing a 1km route which is accessible to wheelchairs
