3 sign-posted walks, which start near Aberfoyle  Golf Course >

The Red walk is steep and should only be done in a

Clockwise direction

the surface of the path near the top can be loose and going

clockwise is safer

Walk 1 Lime Craig

Length of trail 3.5 miles

time of trail  2 hours 30 minutes aprox

The majority of this  RED  route is on forest roads, however the steepest section follows

a rougher track which has loose surface material in places. It is safer to walk up this

section and we therefore suggest that the route is walked in a clockwise direction

Enjoy the walk along the edge of Achray Forest before making the steep climb through

the forest to Lime Craig. The views from the top are superb

Glen Finglas sits to the north and to the south Flanders Moss and the Carse of Stirling

with the Gargunnock Hills the Camsie Fells and The Fintry Hills

The trail then heads downhill through an open mixed conifer woodland back to the car park

WALK 2 Menteith

Length of trail 2.5 miles

time of trail 2 hours 30 minutes aprox

The steepest section of this  Yellow  trail has fairly rough steps which have been cut out of the rock

Though this part of the path also has a handrail, it is safer to walk up the steps than to

walk down them and we suggest you walk the route in an anti - clockwise direction

The Trail initially follows a forest road and climbs steadily as you head into Achray Forest

A narrower path then takes you through a stand of spruce before the short steep climb

uphill to a point where you can enjoy superb views of the  Lake of Menteith  >

Flanders Moss, the Campsie and Fintry Hills with Stirling in the distance

to the east and Loch Ard Forest to the west

WALK 3 Larch loop

Length of trail 0.5 miles

time of trail 30minutes aprox

The Green  path is generally well compacted but there maybe some loose surface material in places

Climbing from the car park, the path takes you through a stand of mature Larch trees

The route then returns to the car park through a mixed and fairly open conifer plantation

The path is probably at its best in spring when the bluebells can be magnificent

For Disabled Or Less Agile Ramblers

Parts of these 3 walks are on rocky uneven paths

and may not be suitable for all abilities

see the picture above

However there are many many walks in and around Aberfoyle

The Trossachs & Callander that are suitable

see  details above, especially Loch Katrine
