**Directions To Get Here**

From  Glasgow take the M80

From  Edinburgh take the M9

From the North take the A9

To  Stirling

then take the A84  until you pass the Blair Drummond Safari Park

follow the signs  to  Callander continue through the town to Kilmahog

where there is a working  Woolen Mill continue on for aprox 1.5 miles

then turn Left over the River Leny, signed Stank Road turn Left at

Ben Ledi walk sign find a parking bay next to the river
 

**THE WALK**

This Walk = 6.5 miles - Allow 5  hours

nearest Toilets Kilmahog, just go Au Natural

Conditions, Mountain and Forest tracks

rough & muddy in places after rain.

Start, leave the car park bays, turn right onto lane then turn left when you reach the Ben Ledi walk sign, onto a path into pine trees

pass the post giving the height of Ben Ledi as 2883 ft, the path climbs gradually, then more steeply and meets a forestry track
 

Cross this track and carry straight on, the path crosses a small stream, then steepens near a large boulder,

continue over sections of board walk until you reach a clearing with a wall ahead on the other side of a burn (stream)
 

turn sharp left and follow path steeply uphill to a major clearing in the trees with a view of cliffs ahead

this path soon leaves the trees to cross open boggy ground ahead is crags with deep gullies

cross over a burn until you reach a style
 

cross over style turn left uphill under the crags, heading for the shoulder of  Ben Ledi south ridge

keep climbing the views over the  Trossachs are stunning, when the path forks take the left fork to a cairn at the base of the ridge
 

turn right on a steady climb head for the skyline, the climb eases to reveal a path going along the ridge

carry on gradual climb follow the line of  old metal fence posts to another cairn, go over 2 false summits
 

then climb  to a pillar at the summit of Ben Ledi passing a metal cross to Sgt Harry Lawrie

killed on duty with the Killin Mountain Rescue team,

Time for your Picnic

From the Pillar descend to the North Ridge keep following the fence posts

Ben More & Stob Binnein which looks as though is has had its top sliced off are straight ahead
 

head towards a small lochan "Nan Corp" stay with the post line just before the lochan turn sharp right

towards Stank Glen, after about 100 mts join a narrow footpath downhill
 

cross a burn and continue steeply downhill to reach a gate with a style on its left

DO NOT CROSS THIS STYLE
 

but turn right alongside the fence and head for a stand of pine tres at the top right hand edga of the pines

cross over a style head down a short ridge with the pine trees on your right until you reach an obvious path leading
 

into the trees, follow this path over a burn onto a much firmer path, where this path meet a forestry track turn left to a junction of tracks

turn right and follow downhill to another junction, turn right again on a track that loops down to cross a burn then rises slightly
 

cross another burn and look for a hidden post on the left indicating a narrow path that leads down through pine trees

take this path at a gap on the left you will see a waterfall, continue on the forestry track turn left zig zag down towards
 

Loch Luibnaig when the track meets a metalled road cross through a line of trees then turn right onto road continue along the road

pass some houses and continue until your reach the car park

**Disabled & Less Adgile Ramblers**

This walk is steep and muddy in places and may not be suitable for all

however there are many many walks in and around

The Trossachs & Callander that are suitable
 

especially the Tar Track that runs along the right hand side of  Loch Katrine

Directions from Callander continue along the main street until you reach Kilmahog

turn left opposite the Woolen Mill and follow this road for 6 miles until you see signs for
 

Loch Kartrine turn in and park (pay & display) Toilets shops cafe boat trips the walk starts on the right of the loch
